Our Curriculum for Infants
Primeros Pasos is a play-based program. We believe that early childhood learning is an on-going process. We use the professionally developed preschool curriculum designed by Mother Goose Time. This comprehensive curriculum nurtures the whole child and supports social, physical and cognitive development. Your child will build foundational skills in early literacy, math, music, art, social studies and science – all via a fun, play-based approach.
In addition, Primeros Pasos’ believes children thrive with outdoor time. We foster hands-on exploration through such means as yard play, the sand box, sensory bins, and cultivation of our vegetable plants in the backyard.

Our Program
Monthly themes are presented at two skill levels, 24 – 36 months as “Little Goose” level activities, and 36 months+ as full Mother Goose Time preschool level activities. Our teachers meet with each group separately to maximize learning of the children in each learning group.

Hands on Learning
Children will love learning as they create art, sing, dance, look at books and explore the world around them. We present many creative and hands-on experiences for children to explore each day. Throughout the process, they will ask questions, problem-solve and discover a joy for learning.
Family Involvement
Primeros Pasos helps families stay connected by distributing Mother Goose Time’s family newsletter highlighting the theme of the month which includes tips for talking with your child about the topics s/he is learning. Also included are song lyrics, suggested book titles to read at home and other fun activity suggestions. We maintain a board at the school entry which outlines for parents what concepts and questions we explored that day with your children.
Evaluation
We believe learning is a process, and that children learn at their own rate. Learning at this age should be fun, which fosters a lifelong love of learning. Because each child is unique and learns at their own pace, our developmentally appropriate curriculum activities are open-ended and flexible so that children can participate at their level and positively contribute to the learning experience.
Primeros Pasos uses Mother Goose Time’s assessment system, which documents each child’s individual learning process over time through natural and intentional observations. Select projects are kept over the course of the school year in a project binder, which parents can review at any time to see first-hand their child’s learning process. The curriculum intentionally fosters development in 33 areas for Kindergarten readiness such as gross motor, fine motor, and logic.
